Kyiv is a safe city, but caution never hurts, especially in the evening and at night. We have collected simple rules that help reduce risks.
Whom to call
- 102 — police: attacks, theft, hooliganism, suspicious people.
- 103 — ambulance.
- 101 — rescuers.
- 112 — the single emergency number: a call to it will help if you do not know which number to dial. It works even without a SIM card.
Give the exact address or landmarks, the nature of the incident and your contacts.
How to get home in the evening
- Choose lit and busy routes.
- Send your loved ones your location or the car’s number if you take a taxi.
- Do not use your phone in the middle of a dark street and do not listen to music at full volume.
- Approach the building with your keys ready.
- If you sense danger, go into a busy place: a shop, a café, a petrol station.
What to carry
- A charged phone and a power bank.
- A copy of your documents or a photo in your phone.
- Written-down numbers of loved ones.
During an air raid alert
Head for the nearest shelter or metro station. If there is no shelter nearby, go into a building and look for a place behind two walls.
What to do if you are attacked
Your safety is more important than things. Remember the attacker’s features, get to a safe place as quickly as possible and call 102.
The tips are general and do not replace the recommendations of police and rescuers.
