Anyone can fall for fraudsters. The main thing in such a situation is not to lose time and not to be ashamed. The first hours can decide whether you manage to save your money.

1. Call your bank immediately

The number is on the back of your card and in the mobile app. Ask them to block the card and suspend operations. If the money has not yet been credited to the recipient, there is a chance to stop it.

2. Change your passwords

Change the password for your banking app, email and messengers. Do this from another working device if the fraudsters could have gained access to your smartphone.

3. Preserve the evidence

  • screenshots of chats and websites;
  • phone numbers and accounts you sent money to;
  • receipts and confirmations of transactions;
  • the time and date of conversations.

Do not delete anything.

4. Report to the police

Call 102 or file a report. In cases of cybercrime you can also contact the Cyber Police through its official website. A report allows proceedings to be opened.

5. Do not trust those who promise to return your money

After a deception, “lawyers” and “intermediaries” appear who offer to return funds for a prepayment. This is often the second stage of the fraud.

6. Warn those close to you

Tell your relatives what happened. Fraudsters often contact those who have already fallen for their scheme again, or look for new victims among their acquaintances.

Do not blame yourself. Fraudsters professionally manipulate emotions, and they succeed even with careful people.
