Emergency power outages were applied in Kyiv on the morning of November 1. DTEK Group announced this on its Telegram channel, and the news was carried by Ukrinform and Ukrainska Pravda.
What is known
According to DTEK, the cause is continuing attacks on the energy system. The company wrote that emergency outages were applied in Kyiv “because of constant shelling of the energy system”. The reports appeared at about 8:00–8:30 Kyiv time.
The statement gives no specific districts, addresses or numbers of affected consumers, and no restoration times. DTEK says engineers are repairing damaged equipment when the security situation allows.
According to Ukrinform, several critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv lost power on the evening of October 30 during an air attack. Details of their nature and location are not disclosed, and we do not give them.
How emergency outages differ from schedules
Outage schedules are usually published in advance, so residents can plan their day. Emergency outages are introduced when the grid suddenly lacks capacity or equipment is damaged, so they are not announced beforehand. Their duration and the list of addresses can change during the day.
What Kyivans can do
- Follow the official DTEK and Ukrenergo channels, where updates on outages and restoration appear.
- Charge phones and power banks if possible and keep a supply of water.
- Avoid open flames for light or heat, and be careful with generators and heaters.
- During an air-raid alert, follow the signals and the recommendations of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Further changes will be known from new operator announcements. We will update this article if official data on affected districts and restoration times appears.
